With existing crafting/decoration, gathering materials (wood, etc.), and threats like orcs/bears/spiders/hornets/zombies, adding a Blacksmith/Smelting station would deepen progression and give players more control. Unlock it via a quest line or merchant purchase, then place it in the tavern.
Smelt ores/metals (new gatherables like iron/copper) into ingots using fuel (wood/charcoal).
Craft/upgrade tools (hoes, axes), weapons (swords, axes for better combat against threats), or decor (metal fixtures, lanterns).
Key addition: Use the blacksmith to craft upgraded versions of existing utility tools with improved stats:
Hoe upgrades – Higher durability (lasts much longer before needing replaced).
Watering Can upgrades – Increased water capacity (holds more units per fill).
Bucket upgrades – Larger capacity (carry more water at once for filling troughs, auto-dishwashers, or cooking).
This gives solo players self-sufficiency over constantly buying/replacing tools from the merchant (especially with durability complaints in the community), rewards exploration for ores despite dangers, and ties into quests/hunting/farming loops. Co-op players can specialize in smithing roles for team efficiency. Upvote for forging fun and less grindy tool management! 🔨🔥🛠️
